The Conference with the participation of representatives of vocational education gathered participants during the second day of the Makership, Innovation, and Professions Fair aimed at developing ideas for strengthening cooperation between education, business and government, as well as outlining the role of vocational education in the concept of regional development.

The event was attended by Volodymyr Kateryna, Deputy Head of the Sheptytskyi District Military Administration, Ruslana Antoniuk, Head of the Department of Education, Culture, Religion, and Tourism of the Sheptytskyi District Military Administration, Oleksandr Hrasulov, Secretary of the Sheptytskyi City Council, Olena Yaremko, representative of the Sheptytskyi branch of the Lviv Regional Employment Center, Nataliia Rybak, Deputy Director of the Regional Center for Vocational Education in Lviv Region, Volodymyr Falchuk, member of the Expert Council of the Business Ideas and Startups Competition, entrepreneurs and former Forum participants Olena Senkova, Volodymyr Levsheniuk, Khrystyna Davidiuk, Ostap Bachynskyi; as well as representatives of the local business community, including the winners of the Competition, heads and staff of vocational and general secondary education institutions.

Ruslana Antoniuk opened the Conference with an introductory speech, emphasizing the importance of education for the region's development. The first-panel discussion focused on "The current state of development of vocational education in Lviv Oblast and Ukraine in general." Nataliia Rybak and Volodymyr Levshéniuk spoke about the trends they observe among entrants to vocational education institutions, as well as how prepared the vocational education system is for training specialists for the new sectors of the economy that are emerging in the process of transformation of the coal micro-region.

The discussion on cooperation between vocational education institutions and businesses was no less interesting. Teachers spoke about the problems their graduates face when looking for employment, while employers noted that they lack qualified workers. Vocational education cannot exist in isolation from the real needs of the labor market, so the representative of the employment center spoke about the opportunities they provide to both employees and employers.

Finally, there was a discussion on the topic "Vocational education as a tool for community development," during which Oleksandr Hrasulov spoke about the place of vocational education institutions in the vision of the future of the region. Volodymyr Kateryna stressed the importance of further cooperation and outlined the need for such projects to promote entrepreneurial skills and develop the business community.

The particular importance of the Conference lies in its practical focus, as it was possible to identify the problems that concern education, government, and business, and to propose effective solutions for them. The energy of the discussion and the constructive proposals proved that the Sheptytskyi district has a powerful potential for development and innovation.

The Fair of Making, Innovation and Professions "Transformation of the Coal Micro-Region of Lviv Oblast" became a platform for dialogue about the future of vocational education in the district! We thank all the participants and believe that through joint efforts, the Sheptytskyi coal micro-region will become a center of innovation!

Implemented by the NGO "Tech StartUp School" as part of the project "Makership, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Chervonohrad coal micro-region".
