“Bread from Mom” – a bakery where tradition meets innovation!

Svitlana Tsaryk, the winner of the Business Ideas and Startups Competition, has proven that combining traditions with innovations is an investment in the future of a business, ensuring its stability and growth.

In today’s world, where speed often overtakes quality, people are increasingly returning to things they remember from childhood. Amid the general development of the bread-making industry, the issue of producing high-quality bread that meets the requirements of healthy eating while maintaining its taste remains relevant. “Bread from Mom” revives the tradition of baking bread, offering an alternative to mass production and satisfying consumers’ need for high-quality and healthy products. Svitlana Tsaryk is convinced that through tasty and healthy baked goods, we can not only promote a culture of consuming natural products but also prove that Ukrainian artisanal producers can create popular products! More about the origin of this business idea is shared in Svitlana’s story.

Greetings to everyone! My name is Svitlana Tsaryk, I am 56 years old, and I have spent almost thirty years working as a college teacher. Working with people, especially the youth, inspires me and brings joy.

“Bread from Mom” is not just a business idea but a dream that sprouted from childhood, warmed by the touch of my grandmother’s hands and the aroma of homemade bread. My grandmother baked bread in an oven for herself, and sometimes made ceremonial breads for weddings or other occasions. We, her grandchildren, were thrilled when we were allowed to decorate the Easter bread or homemade loaves.

The lack of quality multigrain bread on rye sourdough prompted me to recall my childhood years when I enthusiastically helped my grandmother bake bread, and to try my hand at it. Fifteen years ago, when my husband had to give up regular bread due to health problems, I tried to make my first sourdough starter using a kit given to me by my friend. I searched for recipes on the internet and in my grandmother’s old notes. Through trial and error, I found recipes that suited my husband’s needs and appealed to my entire family. Instead of a gas oven, we bought an electric one to somewhat replicate the traditional bread-baking process.

Now it’s time to expand my passion! What used to be a joy for a small circle of relatives is now ready to turn into a lifelong endeavor and bring satisfaction to many people.

The assortment will grow, but for now, I can offer:

• Rye-wheat and multigrain sourdough bread;

• Whole-grain croissants with various fillings;

• Multigrain cookies;

• Ceremonial bread.

The vision of the “Bread from Mom” artisanal bakery is to instill a culture of consuming healthy baked goods and caring for one’s health.

Everyone has unique tastes and needs, which is why I strive to create a variety of baked goods that can satisfy even the most discerning gourmet. I am confident that in the “Bread from Mom” bakery, every resident of Chervonohrad will find something to their taste!

Winning the competition is just the beginning of a great journey for the “Bread from Mom” bakery! We believe that Svitlana will be able to grow her business and share the taste of real homemade bread with a wider audience. We wish her success in achieving all her goals!
